It’s all over, and seven teams have walked away with nearly $30,000 in cash prizes awarded in four categories.

It has been a very tough race. Ten of the 39 teams who set out on Monday completed the full course, and 11 more took the short course options to finish fully ranked. Many of the remaining 18 teams continued on course right to the end, even though they skipped one or more sections on the way so, barring injury and illness, no one was left behind.

The prize-giving ceremony commenced with a good solid meal – absolutely no shortage of food there!, as competitors heaped their plates higher than any non-adventure racer would ever think possible - and a few words from RD John Jacoby, sharing some of the more humorous highlights of the week.\

After dinner, the prize-giving commenced. In addition to cash prizes for category winners, a number of gear prizes provided by sponsors Keen and Ay Up bike lights were awarded to teams and to support crews.

Overall winners were Chris Forne and Gordon Walker, of team Adventuresportnz, and mixed winners Stu Lynch and Anna Berthelsen of Orionhealth.com Mixed. (John Jacoby sent out a big thank you to the Kiwi teams for validating his fastest time estimations for the course!). I’ll list the full winner ranking and their cash prizes below.
