pic thanks to Incite ImagesEverything was set or so I thought, it was Thursday afternoon, I made a quick phone call to Diane at AROC Sport to discuss an article, at the end of the conversation I said “so see you on Sunday Diane’s response “no Saturday steve she was kidding right, nope she wasn’t, the AROC sport finale was on Saturday, “you can still come Sunday if you want, but you will be helping pack up. The first words into my mind were “crap, hope the other guys knew after all I had just organized for them to drive up together. The team SleepMonsters International Rescue consisted of helicopter rescue pilot Scott Sorrell, Brian Burns our medic and myself in charge of band aids, one of the conditions of racing was keep the phone on and if we were needed we would be called, first though we had to get to the race on the right day. A quick call to Brian reassured me, he and Scott were driving up on Saturday, well we would have only been 1 man down had my original plans played out. So we now had the days right. Friday night rolled round and it was time to put the gear togther, I wasn’t to hard to find as most of it was still in my bag from the last race, all I had to do was get my clothes and bike sorted.
