The trip to the start was ok, as rego was 0830 i left home close to 0630, a bit before 0900 i rolled into Myola, a small collection of houses bounded by a tidal inlet, Jervis Bay and national park. My Team mate Paul had got the ball rolling and had maps and instructions under control, i did the final prep on my bike which this time was to be my single speed, rigid cannondale m700, as old as the hills and Adventure Racing in Australia, but none the less capable of the task ahead, 5 mins before briefing and my rear tube lets go, FLAT, YOUR KIDDING, i hurriedly pulled out a spare and replaced the tyre just in case aswell, just as we were set to get to the start all the competitors rounded the corner sprinting for the beach.
We rushed to the start line dropped our bikes and gear box and high tailed it after them, the next 3 legs comprised of a run North along the beach to Calalla to the boats, then we would paddle back to Huskisson, via the beach and Plantation Point to the South East of Husky, at Husky we would do a small rogaine collecting CPs 5,6,7,8,9,10 before hitting the kayaks again to collect CPs 11 and 12 up the tidal inlet before returning via a portage to the Start Finish.
