But with the good comes the not so good, initially a course of 217km, 3 paddle legs, 4 MTB legs and 3 runs, equating to 46km, 132km and 39km respectively, motheer nature decided to mix it up a bit.
The weather bureau today issued severe weather warnings, by way of flood and heavy rain warnings for the Northern rivers north of Taree. This has resulted in safety procedures and course changes being implemented by GeoQuest Organisers.
Competitors now find themselves being transported from CP13/TA to the end of the Timeout section, taking out half of leg 7, this would have been potentially dangerous if the weather does align with forecasts.
The result being at this stage a course somewhat shorter as the leg removed is a MTB leg. Certainly some teams initial thoughts had been this course favoured the bike and trek legs, not quite so much now.
Stay tuned we will see what else comes out of race HQ
