Le Grand Raid Nord Pas de Calais
The second day of the Grand Raid Nord Pas de Calais
Press Release / 23.06.2011

While the North of France is not known for its elevation changes, these champions in their sport, some of whom have travelled a great distance for this competition, are aware that this race is a demanding one with orienteering sections that can easily decide the outcome of the race.
As well, this year the weather is constantly changing; from bright sunshine to heavy showers with one constant element, the wind. This violent wind, which is almost always frontal, has blown up to 71 kilometres an hour.
Furthermore, right at the beginning of the competition, the addition of a new discipline, the « Longe côte » wore down the racers.
