While the first place position in the overall ranking was almost a certainty for the Franco-Swedish team Thule, they also wanted a win on the last stage. As well, the positions of second and third place were not yet acquired.
Finally, after a final « sprint » of…3 hours, the ranking remained unchanged. The second place winners are the New Zealanders of Wilsa AFG who raced with Sébastien Sxay from France who won last year but has been recovering from a foot operation and is not yet firing on all cylinders.
In third place are the current World Champions, Buff Thermocool. Fourth place went to Cap Opal, the best team in the North of France and the Ukrainians of OS Direct were fifth.
As the end of the Elite race was taking place, on the site of the finish in Villeneuve d’Ascq a « Family » race went on as well. This race was open to families to demonstrate how the activity of adventure racing is suitable for all levels and enables quality exchanges through sports ; children are often eager for adventure and activities with their parents. They were even more impressed to have been able to rub shoulders with the stars of adventure racing.
