The first test was to cross the Sarapiqui River to face a total of 15 miles of rafting, an activity that had an estimated 2 hours completion, until the first PC at Hotel Gavilan located in Puerto Viejo.
The first report on the first section Rafting team placed the No. 9 Toyota Costa Rica in the first position, this team is lead by Eric Cano. Second place in that stretch was to the 2010 World Champions, the team Thermocool Buff from Spain and Finland, third place to Costa Rica Orosi Sprint Group led by Alvaro Saenz and fourth team from Denmark, Daredevils Adventure Racing.
At the time of PC1, the Hotel Gavilan in Puerto Viejo de Sarapiqui, minutes before 10 am, the top four teams made the transition. As happened in the rafting segment the Toyota team made the change in the first place, Buff Thermocool second, third place team Number 3, Adventure Racing and fourth Daredevils set for Costa Rica Orosi Sprint Group.
The teams left the raft and took the bike for a total of 74 miles for an estimated time of four hours.
PC2 will be at the Crossing San Gerardo and PC3 on the Rio Suerte.
This Sunday afternoon in the final hours of preparation before the race, the adventurers made the general meeting, review the equipment and materials required, studied maps and received a briefing on the species of snakes and dangers they could face in the 540 km of travel.
