Red Bull Northern Exposure
Goretex Golite – The winners
Rob / 15.04.2002

At 23.02 the winners of the first ever Red Bull Northern Exposure walked across the finish line hand in hand and arms raised as the small but enthusiastic crowd cheered them in. Their winning time was 46 hours 55 minutes.
They were happy and relieved to have made it to the end having struggled with violent sickness for the final stages of the race. Anna McCormack was the liveliest as she hadn’t been struck down but her three team mates, Pete James, Ski Sharp and Pasi Ikonen had all been violently ill for the final few hours. They stayed on the finish line for a few pictures and a quick TV interview, but were then whisked off to the medical tent to be rehydrated.
Once they’ve recovered we’ll hear more about their race, but there will be little time to celebrate, in two days time Anna and Ski will fly out to Vietnam for one of the world’s longest and toughest races The Raid Gauloises! Some racers just can’t get enough.
