Adventure Race Slovenia
A Difficult Night and a Lively Morning
AR Slovenia / 23.06.2012

The difficulty of the course and the effect of night were most felt by four teams who decided to step down from the race. The night route was trekking over Mt Vremščica and around 2 o’clock teams got their bikes back to head to Rakov Škocjan.
At 6 in the morning the first team started arriving at the natural beauty of Slovenia – Rakov Škocjan – to find two disciplines there, nordic skateboard Skike and orienteering run. A real treat were fresh pancakes for every competitor. A little thing which is worth a million in difficult situations. The morning is again sunny, fresh with tired but still happy faces of competitors.
After the early morning test on skikes, there is a very lively morning going on. First leaving bikes and trekking towards Unška Koliševka sinkhole, underground tunnels from the 1st world war, where the orienteering run is taking place.
There are endless set of tunnels, with endless possibilities to get lost. Then heading on towards Planinsko polje, a karts field, where the kayaking takes place on the river Unec. The water level of the river is always a puzzle until you actually row into it. Kayaking between high grass, narrow river passages, mud and wading in water spice up the rather peaceful kayaking.
