AROCsport Adventure Sprint Sydney
Dam, that was fun!
Rosi / 12.04.2004

A fast and furious paddle got the teams who went in a straight line to the opposite side of the dam, while others did some great circle-work! Teams then swam 200m (fully clothed and wearing PFDs) to get a control on top of a waterski jump ramp in the middle of the dam. Ninety nine participants turned part of the dam into a frothy mass of arms, shoe covered feet, and maps in mouths (in an attempt to keep them dry).
Coming out of the water first was team Millie, and the first \'coasteering\' (runing, wading, swimming along a shoreline) section was a tousle for the lead with Blueedge - Simon Manson, Andrew Love and Christie Sym - all experienced athletes but first time adventure racers.
Another short swim and some running to get up to a high point, then teams dashed back to the dam for more coasteering to return to the boats. Teams paddled to the far end of the dam, dropping off one member to run around to the next transition point to start to decipher the next lot of instructions before the canoes arrived.
