Cambodia: The Ancient Khmer Path
STAGE 3: Longest day on the course sees big changes in ranking
(submitted) / 20.11.2012

Today’s 62.2 km route, the longest day by far of this six-day event, started at Preah Khan temple and finished at Beng Melea temple, where parts of the movie Indiana Jones were filmed.
The first men have already arrived, again with Salvador Calvo in front finishing in 6:48h, followed by the Canadian Paul Trebilock in 7:29, and Spain Manuel Pastor in 7:38.
An incredible performance by France’s Valerie Levai in
9:04h saw her achieve first woman in. She was followed by Aisling Coppinger from Ireland. We are still waiting on news on Britain’s Sophie Power, who led the first two stages.
For the first 30 km, the runners had to run through jungle with some breast-deep waterholes and a lot of mud. The second 30 km were extremely mentally demanding, as runners had to run in the Cambodian heat without any shadow, along a straight trail without any turns, before finishing inside the ancient temple.
At the time of writing, 17 runners are still on the route. The last are expected in around midnight.</p>
