It was a late night for some runners yesterday, the race’s longest stage. Arvind Sirohi aand Jagdeep Kairon were the last racers in, finishing after 20:05h.
For today’s Stage 4, runners had to run 10 km on an asphalted road in the heat of Cambodia before entering the Kulen mountains.
A sharp climb of 350 m in altitude over a distance of 2 km was the first climb overall so far. The final 15 km the runners had to run along the ridge of the hill, passing a lot of aboriginal villages and temples before coming down to the spectacular Kulen Mountain Waterfalls.
It was the first time the runners had the opportunity to take a fresh bath in the waterfalls. To celebrate the birthday of Valerie Levai, GlobalLimits has invited all participants for a dinner at the waterfalls.
The finish was exciting today: In a final sprint Manuel Pastor from Spain fought down his compatriot Salvador Calvo by 2 seconds, finishing in 3:12h. Third man was Canadian Paul Trebilock in 3:28h followed by French Fabien Debaucheron.
Aisling Coppinger won the women categorie in an impressive manner with 3:53h. Second was birthday girl Valerie Levai in 4:06h followed by Dutch Julia Romanovai in 4:32h.
The so-far overall leading woman Sophie Power had to step back from the start due to circulation problems.
The overall ranking changed again on the third mens place. Paul Trebilock is now third behind leading Salvador Calvo and Manuel Pastor second.
The overall lead in the women categorie was taken now by Asling Coppinger, second is Valerie Levai and third now Julia Romanova.
