Celtman Extreme Triathlon
Entries Open for the 2014 Celtman Extreme Triathlon
News Release (Durty Events) / 02.10.2013

The ballot for 2014 race slots at the Celtman Extreme Triathlon will open at midnight (UK time) on Saturday 2nd November, and will close at midnight (UK time) on Friday 15th November.
The link to the ballot entry form will be posted on the race website (www.cxtri.com) and Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/Theceltman) pages shortly before the ballot opens. The race will most likely be significantly oversubscribed as in just 2 years it has achieved an iconic status among endurance athletes around the world.
Celtman! was launched in 2012, and is modelled on the famous Norseman race held in Norway. Norseman, Celtman and Swissman are now all informally linked as a network of ‘Extreme’ races and the winners of Celtman receive a guaranteed entry slot to Norseman.
The race is based in the Torridon and Sheildaig area of Wester Ross, Scotland, and takes place over a 3.8km Sea Loch Swim, 202km Road Bike, and 42km Run Course. The run is largely off-road, and the second half comprises two of the Beinn Eighe Munro Mountain tops. (Summits over 3000 feet in height)
The 2012 Celtman! was the winner of the coveted British Triathlon ‘Event of the Year’ Award and was a truly international race – over 25 countries were represented on the start line, including USA, Australia, Greece, Norway, Sweden, and South Africa.

[The 2013 Celtman! race is also being televised on BBC2 Adventure Show next Tuesday (8th October) at 7pm. The live broadcast is on BBC2 Scotland, and Sky Channel 990 but will also be on the BBC i-Player for a week or so after broadcast (search for ‘The Adventure Show’). The race took place in pretty dramatic weather conditions that made an already tough course into something approaching that much over-used word, epic. It should make for compelling viewing.
The 2014 race date is Saturday 28th June and you can find out more on the event website at www.cxtri.com
