Getting ready for the race

With the top racers going both day and night, some think that this could be where the race is won… or lost.

Never before has the Raid Gauloises taken place in such extensive nocturnal conditions. ; that’s almost fifty percent! Authorised for the first time to race non-stop over the course, it is going to be critical to successfully integrate the “dark hours into a winning race strategy.

Gilles Machery, captain of Dialink, thinks that this is precisely where the winner will be decided. “Nights of 11 hours are very rare. We took it all into account during our training and we feel very confident in the matter. We even went so far as to develop special Petzl lamps, with specific bulbs and improved electronics he whispers trying, like many others, not to give away too many trade secrets. “We’re counting on all the work we did on this issue to get us into the top 10, he concludes.

[Of course the Finns and Brits in Team Lapin Kulta are used to long nights …]
