Start of Adventure race Slovenia

At 9.00 the best teams from yesterday’s prologue opened the race by jumping into the lake. The sun was out, teams seemed to be in good spirits and eager to start. Some afraid of the swimming, which at the end proved to be a nice refreshment. Others wished to get such refreshment every day. Coming out of the swimming was rewarding since the teams were finally given the maps of quarter of the entire race. So the tactics are much different this year.

Extremely quick morning

The refreshment from the early was soon forgotten, since the teams were progressing really quickly in hot weather. They were on bikes for the most of the morning course, experienced some amazing views as one of the competitors said “we are just on the look for amazing views�. Yet again Slovenia proved that no matter what part you decide to visit, it’s always rewarding. The next rewarding thing was also the rollerblading section, which lead into the kayaking on the Drava river. An interesting touch to the race also gave the idea to paddle against the stream. Another fascinating challenge was to abseil off a bridge onto the river bed.

First short cuts taken

The quick morning start and difficult biking sections forced teams to calculate their times and see what tactics to choose in order to stay in the game. Not every team decided to pick all checkpoints, they rather chose a shorter track, but more suitable for them. The biking section at the moment is the section of many different decisions, but basically there’s a question of how many checkpoints can teams pick before entering the cave at CP24.
