Coast to Coast in a Day
Coast To Coast In A Day 150 Mile Sportive Now In Its 3rd Year
News Release / 25.06.2014

On Saturday 28th June, hundreds of road cyclists will dip their bikes from Seascale Jetty on the Western edge of the Lake District and ride the challenging 150 mile road route to Whitby on the far Eastern coast of Britain. This iconic ride is the third to be organised by Open Cycling and has yet again attracted a sell out field of riders.
The Coast to Coast route is normally tackled over a number of days with overnight stops in a local pub or B + B, however on the 28th June this C2C sportive will challenge even the fittest riders as they tackle the epic route in just one day, albeit one of the longest days of the year. We have even had some of the roads re surfaced especially for the event, its lucky the Tour de France get to take advantage of our organisation!
Open Cycling would like to thank their sponsors Clifbar who are again providing energy products and Gatorade who are providing Perform electrolytes to help powder the riders along the route.
Olympus Automation as well as sponsoring the event, they have entered a 10 person team comprising of employees and customers from the food industry. Raising money and awareness for the British Heart Foundation. OAL are a driving force in the food industry developing cooking technologies.
One particular rider for team OAL is Gareth Collins, who decided the time was right to make some personal health changes. Harry Norman, CEO of OAL, has a passion for cycling and felt the C2C was an event for them to align themselves with so Gareth bought a bike and began his weight loss and fitness campaign.
Since he started training Gareth had lost 4.5st and despite a brief set back with a recurring knee injury from his rugby days, he is well on target to complete the C2C on Saturday with the rest of the team.
If you would like to support Gareth and the OAL team raise funds for the BHF please visit their just giving page http://www.justgiving.com/OlympusPDX and follow them on Twitter,@Olympuspdx
