Huairasinchi - The 2014 Adventure Racing World Championships
By Hook or by Crook

Team number 34 is LSN EndorphinMag. LSN is short for Lozere Sport Nature, Lozere being a department in southeast France. This French team, captained by the tiny dynamo Fanny Frechinet, was determined to race in these AR World Champs but their participation looked doubtful up until a few weeks ago due to lack of funding.
The team came up with a novel idea that I’ve not heard used before by teams to get the AR World Championships; capitalizing on the digital era they turned to crowd funding. Their webpage on Sponsorise.me detailed their project after explaining exactly what adventure racing is and donations were possible from €5 up to €500.
For five euros or more, those who donated are to be given access to all of the photos taken during the race but those who dug deeper into their pockets and donated €150 or more will be able to participate in an adventure race in France with a the team member of their choice from LSN EndorphinMag.
Their crowdfunding goal was to raise €800 and they far exceeded that amount by raising €2,480! The team members Benjamin Monier, Olivier Combe, Nicolas Rambier and Fanny Frechinet have just arrived from France last night so they will not have as much time to acclimatize as many of the other teams but they have been training on Mont Blanc in the French Alps in anticipation of the altitude here in Ecuador. Jet lag will be another issue but they seemed cheerful and confident when we spoke at the gear checks.
Having already showed their determination to race these AR World Champs and their resourcefulness, this team that is very popular in France will be another one to watch in the days ahead.
