Tierra Viva 2015
Rob Howard / 15.12.2014

The 6th edition of The Tierra Viva Expedition Race has been titled ‘The Beast of Patagonia’ and will take place in April 2015 in the Andean adventure destination of Pucon, Chile.
Next year’s race will be the second in the AR World Series and the event often attracts top teams to the Andes. At past races these have included the current top 3 in the world, adidas TERREX, Seagate and Columbia Vidaraid.
This new edition is the first time the race has moved across the border from Argentina and promises a 600 km course across the stunning landscapes of the Andes with its giant volcanoes, great lakes, wild rivers and the Valdivian forest!
Another change is that teams will follow a non-stop, linear course over the 7 days of the race. In the past teams have returned to a fixed race HQ several times during the race and been able to sleep in camp, but the rules for this race will not include a compulsory stop.
The race is open to 20 teams and they will be unsupported, with the race organisation carrying out all logistics. However teams will only be given maps at the start of each stage - 1: 50,000 for trekking and 1:100,000 for other disciplines.
Race dates are April 11-20th and entries are now open. The entry fee of US $4,000 includes all the usual race services and 3 nights at Gran Hotel Pucon for what should be the longest event on the 2015 World Series. (The winners are expected to take around 90 hours/4 days.)
There is also prize money available with the winners taking US $9,000 and a free entry to the World Champs in Brazil, the second placed team US$ 6,000 and the third finishers $5,000.
It promises to be a fantastic race and you can find out all the details at http://tierraviva.com.ar/
