News Release / 09.06.2015See All Event Posts Follow Event

The Ziener BIKE Festival powered by MINI returns to Willingen from June 12th thru 14th, 2015. It's the 18th time that one of the most well-known mountain bike events of Europe guests in the Upland region showcasing all facets of mountain biking. Besides numerous high-quality races the huge outdoor fair which is a class of its own will once again attract more than 30,000 spectators.

About 180 exhibitors and some 400 brands offer test events, trial courses as well as special event prices while also presenting the latest developments to an interested audience. As always, the focus is on the dialogue between business and customer!

In addition, the BIKE Festival is also known for its outstanding events. The highlight of the weekend will take place on Saturday morning at 7:30 AM when pros as well as amateurs compete in the Rocky Mountain BIKE Marathon. Some 2,000 racers are expected to start in what has become a flagship event of the European mountain bike marathon scene over the past years.

Participants will lock horns on three different courses. While the short course (52.72 km, 1,462 m) seems to be easy to master, the middle course (95.06 km, 2,742 m) has some more potential to exhaust the racers. The long course (121.52 km, 3,544 m) will definitely push everyone to or over the limit. However, all three courses have one thing in common: a big amount of trails.

Sunday brings a double dose of adrenalin. At 7:30 AM it's time for the third and most northern stop of the SRAM-Specialized Enduro Series (www.enduroseries.net). Race Organisers will once again rely on an attractive course design which helped Willingen to establish its reputation as enduro region last year.

At 11:30 AM things will speed up even more as the iXS German Downhill Cup (www.ixsdownhillcup.com) is back to business at Ettelsberg after a successful debut back in 2014. The second of this five-stop national race series which is around for nine years now will take place on the former World Cup track.

On Sunday, also the youngest will get their share with the Scott Junior Trophy, a special race for kids aged three to 14.

The day before, the popular Canyon Pumptrack powered by mtb-academy is back. Besides some decent training and video analyses to teach the right technique on the course, mountain bikers can go for first, second and third rank in a contest session, too.

Guided tours as well as a stunning trial show by six-time world champion Marco Hoeser round out the event weekend in Willingen.

In addition, festival partner MINI provides five different models for some test drives in the beautiful Sauerland region.
