Franziska Meyer and Andreas Sieber Triumph in iXS German Downhill Cup

Willingen, June 14th, 2015 – Franziska Meyer (GER) and Andreas Sieber (GER) came out successfully of the second stop of the iXS German Downhill Cup series which took place on the former World Cup course at Ettelsberg (1,650m, 290 m) on the final day of the Ziener BIKE Festival Willingen powered by MINI.
Defending champion Sieber, a team member of Radon Factory Racing, was able to improve his qualifying time by some four tenths of a second celebrating a back-to-back win in 2:05.199 minutes.
“It was my goal to win again after I finished as runner-up of yesterday's seeding runs.” said Sieber. “I wanted to bring down a good and clean run. I'm pleased with my racing, and it's nice that it worked out with the win.”
Rick Balbierer (GER) of Team NRG, who had placed in third position last year and had been the only one to stay under the 2:05 minutes mark yesterday finished in second position missing the top podium spot by the tiny mere of 0.269 seconds (2:05.468).
“That was so close,” explained the best qualifier after the finish of the race. “Of course I was hoping to win but it wasn't meant to be.”
Dave Goris (BEL) of Giant Germany-Gear2win-100% rounded out the podium as third (2:06.475).
In the women's competition, Franziska Meyer met the expectations of going into the finals as best qualifier.
The Conti National Team member, who had missed the win last year by only five thousands of a second, stormed down the course in impressive manner bringing home a well-deserved victory in 2:23.730 minutes.
Maria Franke (GER) of Next Generation Racing came in second (2:25.454) while Katrin Karkhof (GER) of Pivot Cycles claimed rank three (2:29.987).
