Anneke Beerten and Michal Prokop Triumphant in Enduro Race
Press Release / 16.06.2015

Willingen, June 14th, 2015 – Top favourites Anneke Beerten (NED) and Michal Prokop (CZE) have clinched the third stop of the Specialized-SRAM Enduro Series which took place on the last event day of this year's Ziener BIKE Festival Willingen powered by MINI. The three-day outdoor fair attracted once again about 30,000 spectators and some 2,800 active athletes who competed in the various races at site.
About 400 of them started in the enduro race which concluded the festival and was dominated by the star of the scene today.
Specialized Racing athlete Beerten mastered the five stages of the 26 km long course through the Upland region in 11:39.87 minutes and therefore relegated Nathalie Schneitter (SUI) of Rose Vaujani fueled by ultraSports to the second rank (12:10.99).
“I never expect to win but I always hope to do so. I felt good today, and I also like the course here in Willingen. I'm stoked,” said Beerten after her win.
Raphaela Richter (GER) of Radon Factory Racing, who was the only one besides Beerten to win one stage (stage four), missed a better result by twelve hundredths and had to settle for third (12:11.11).
In the men's competition, the battle for the win was an even closer one. Three-time world champion of Specialized Racing Michal Prokop (10:09.29) edged of the strong Irish racer of Cube Action Greg Callaghan with the tiny mere of 2.22 seconds to the runner-up position (10:11.51).
Another 1.21 seconds behind followed Premek Tejchmann (CZE) of Commencal rounding out the podium as third (10:12.72).
“I'm very happy that I was able to win here. The race was short but very intense. I enjoyed the BIKE Festival in Willingen”, said Prokop.
