Merrell Sign Up as Apparel and Footwear Sponsor for Godzone

Leading international outdoor brand Merrell have signed on as the exclusive apparel and footwear sponsor for New Zealand’s premier adventure race, GODZone.
The innovative outdoor lifestyle footwear and clothing brand is synonymous withinspiring people to enjoy being outside everyday. GODZone Race Director Warren Bates says the sponsorship deal aligns perfectly with the principles of theevent.
“ We are very pleased to announce this new relationship with one of the largest international outdoor brands in the world. Merrell share our vision for encouraging people to get out and enjoy their natural surroundings,” says Bates.
“Merrell produce high quality outdoor apparel and footwear for before, during and after sport that is the type of gear our competitors are choosing to equip themselves effectively for the challenges that lie ahead in GODZone.”
The 2016 GODZone has attracted 280 competitors from around the globe to the event inTasman running from the 2nd – 9th April 2016. Merrell will provide apparel for each competitor and over 70 volunteers and GODZonemanagement team members.
Merrell New Zealand General Manager Clive Weston says, “We are excited about being aligned with GODZone and see synergy from sponsoring an event where athletes require a high level of performance from their clothing and footwear.”

The 2016 GODZone event will see competitors race in two separate categories’, Pure, which is the full-scale expedition length adventure race and Pursuit, which is a shorter distance format. Race Director Warren Bates says the winners of each category will benefit from the new apparel sponsorship.
“ Every year the winning team of GODZone receives a free entry into the Adventure Racing World Championships. This year Merrell have also agreed to put up some fantastic prizes for the first three teams in both categories that we know the teams are going to really enjoy.
By uniting our two brands together in this footwear and apparel partnership, we are jointly sharing our passion of the outdoors with the adventure racing community at large.”
