Burn Series Adventure Day
Adventure Racing in the Family Way!
News Release / 26.03.2016

A unique opportunity for Adventure Racers and their families comes with a double dose of challenges in Margam Park, South Wales on April 2.
Alongside a Burn Series Adventure race for over 18’s there is an opportunity to run a Mini Burn with your own family.
This highly successful format for giving children a taste of the passion for adventure has already been enthusiastically rubber stamped by former World Adventure Racing Champion Nick Gracie who has competed in the Mini Burn many times before with his nine year old son, George.
“It’s been a great father and son bonding experience. George has loved the races and can’t wait for the next one. It has also encouraged him to do more running and cycling as he wants to go a little faster next time.”
The Mini Burn organised by double world record holder Maria Leijerstam involves a 3km run, 1km kayak, and 10km mountain bike with the unique advantage of allowing adults and juniors to compete together as a team. It’s the only event of it’s kind in the UK and consequently has gained many fans.
For those keen on the ultimate fitness challenge The Burn runs on the same day with a 10km run, 1km kayak and 40km mountain bike orienteer.
The day is part funded by the Welsh Government and as it is the Year of Adventure in Wales, there will also be some additional adventure challenges to test both competitors and inquisitive spectators.
Supporting the event will be live entertainment from The Wave radio station, the Llantrisant-based band The Broadcasts, and ITV Wales’ Coast and Country presenter, Andrew Price, will be providing bushcraft demonstrations.
“I have designed these races to ensure competitors will be able sample the excitement of adventure racing in a fun and friendly way and share the buzz that I feel about the sport.”
So what are you waiting for? Join Burn Series at Margam Park, Port Talbot on Saturday, April 2 and make adventure your way of life!
