Godzone Adventure Race
Team Swordfox Second at Godzone
Race Release / 05.04.2016
Team Swordfox arrived across the GODZone finish line in Kaiteriteri bang on 5am today to finish in second place after chasing leading team Yealands Family Wines all the way since day one back at the Red Hills.
Team captain Brent Edwards said he personally found the first day physically hard but got through the suffering and slowly came right. Stu Lynch said the Chapter 5 course was great and they knew they missed a lot of spectacular scenery because they were travelling through many of the highlights during the night. Comparing it to last years race in Wanaka he said it definitely felt slightly easier but was shorter so that had an impact.
Ash Whitehead said the major challenge for the team was not having raced together before and it took some time to sync everyone in. He said; “ The biggest physical challenge was the weather during the Red Hills when it was cold and wet which made nav quite difficult.
Naomi Whitehead summed up the teams race as awesome saying the support from people everywhere was amazing. She said; “ Even when we were biking through Pohara last night there were people out cheering and waving us on in their pyjamas – we loved it.”
