Raid Gauloises
Pharmanex–Endeavour 10th at CP14
Raid Gauloises / 29.04.2002

Pharmanex-Endeavour with some of the most experienced campaigners in the adventure-racing world arrived at CP14 (Assistance Point 1) at 17h50 this evening.
Weathering the storm that hit the raiders as they trekked through the night of Saturday/Sunday by taking shelter and keeping as dry as possible, their self assurance is the result of a perfectly paced and judiciously managed race. “Just as we thought, the feet are crux of the matter and keeping them dry and cool has been a major consideration. Their preoccupations and the precautions they took as a result were well founded though not everyone escaped untouched.
Andy Macbeth, “gnome to the team, seems to have made an error in his choice of footwear and has suffered severe blistering on both feet. A trip to the medical tent will establish the degree of the problem and Louise will adjust their rest time accordingly. Overall, the team, which only slept for one hour during the trek, feels “great and apart from a minor a orienteering error and when Louise fell from her bike in the night, everything is going to plan.
Team Pharmanex-Endeavour: A judicious association of \"Kiwis\" and \"Yanks\" who regularly grace the upper regions of the rankings, Team Endeavour display a propensity for survival. With three Raid Gauloises’ to their credit, and only failing to finish the Trans-Himalayan when a team member dislocated his shoulder, this time they are heading out with captain, the indomitable Louise Cooper, a recent victor in her personal war against breast cancer. You can bet that the watchword for the team will be \"perseverance\".
