Length: 50 miles
Location: Hamburg, PA
Breathtaking views, challenging terrain, and captivating wilderness, set the scene for this 12 hour race of challenge and adventure. Join us in honoring and commemorating a dear friend, fellow adventure racer, and fellow search and rescue instructor, who died while training a few years ago.
Krista spent many years training and instructing at the Civil Air Patrol's Search and Rescue School, based at Hawk Mountain, PA. Proceeds from the race will go to benefit that volunteer school.
The Krista Griesacker Memorial Adventure Race is an epic point to point race that encompasses all the best terrain the Hawk Mountain area has to offer. Racers will travel through all different types of geography on their way from the start of the race to the finish line. Racers will get a chance to ride some largely unknown single track that will challenge their technical skills and take them to breathtaking views of what lies ahead. Just like last year, this will be the only time racers will see “a trail”.
The foot section is the crown jewel of this race and is comprised of complete wilderness that has been largely untouched by man (over the last 50 years). Participants will get to see parts of this world that very few have ever seen. Finally, an adventure race would not be complete without a paddle experience; so you will get one.
Altogether, speed, navigation, route choice, and decision making skills will determine what and how much of this course you will see. It will also absolutely determine your place in the final standings. But don’t let that scare you. This race is designed for BOTH the novice racer and the experienced expedition athlete. Once the race begins it will be up to you to determine your own course and to make your way home.
