After a mass start, teams run up to 3 miles X-country, following a mystery route, to collect their map and instructions. They then will have to find premarked checkpoints on foot and mountain bike applying simple navigation techniques, cunning route choice and teamwork. Along the way there will be surprise team challenges, at least one of which will involve getting wet!
