SS5 will be held at Knapsack Gulley, Glenbrook, The event will be a sprint style event with a compact map at 1:7500 scale. The area centres on a ridge with each course enjoying some fine lookouts over the Sydney basin. The track network is a mix of fast dirt roads, slower vehicular tracks and fun and at times \"challenging\"’ single tracks.
Start times: Sunday morning – Arrive to start between 10:00am & 12:30pm. All courses close at 2:00pm. Please arrive in time to complete your course before the closure time of 2:00pm.
Format: The Long and Medium course will consist of multiple maps and map changes during the event. The first map for the Long and Medium courses and the map for the Short course will be a line map which will have a number of checkpoints that must be visited in the correct order. The form of the second map for the Long and Medium courses will be discovered on the day!
Courses: There will be Long, Medium and Short courses. Being a compact area, distances covered on the map are small so the Long and Medium courses will be made up of at least 2 maps. The Short Course will be on one map. Expect winning times under 70 minutes. Total distances for each course is approx: Long: 15Km approx Medium: 10Km approx Short: 6Km
Entry Fees: Adult (15 and over) - $15.00, Child (under 15) - $10.00, Family (1 adult + 2 children) - $25.00. An extra $5.00 for each adult who is not a member of an orienteering club.
