Ecomotion Pro Bahia - this year's most important Brazilian event of adventure races.
Chapada Diamantina, Bahia, Brazil. 2003. The most important Brazilian event of adventure racing is beginning. The ECOMOTION/ PRO is going to congregate the emotion of one of the biggest competitions of adventure of Brazil, in a scenery of nature, whealtiness people, natural obstacles, lots of sports and, for sure, adventure.
Brazilians and foreigner's teams will be participating of this event. Ten international teams have been invited for ECOMOTION/ PRO in Bahia, as Montrail, Earthlink, Iiro Kakko, Daniel Poirier from Endurance Adventure/Canada, Antonio de la Rosa from Spain also teams from Finland, France, Costa Rica and New Zealand.
The challenge will happen between November 21st and 30th and it is expected to last from 4 to 7 days and the athletes will practice navigation, trekking, mountain biking, river padding (ducks), ride & run, rappel, rope ascension (jumar technique), Tyrolean traverse techniques and cave exploration.
As its dealing about a National Park, there will be limit of people around there, so the government has established a limit of only 45 teams, being at all 140 competitors. The teams have to be composed by 4 members, with at least a female one plus the two support crew members. The entry fee is 1.200 US dollars and the prize for the first team is US$10.000.
Chapada Diamantina is located at Bahia, in Brazilian northeast region. It's one of the most beautiful places in Brazil, with amazing landscape, nature almost untouched, marked trails and tracks - but without signalization - local community absolutely hospitable, with high regional culture, and rich in national folklore.
The first qualifying of the circuit was the Ecomotion Cipó at Minas Gerais (central region of Brazil), in a mountainous region of Belo Horizonte (capital of Minas Gerais), called Serra do Cipó (Cipó Mountain Range) between June 17th and 22nd. The Ecomotion/Pro Bahia finishes the circuit with lots of glamour and adventure.
