The Barnardo\'s Cairngorm Challenge is back for the third year running. Get your boots on, bike ready and challenge yourself for charity.
For the past two years the Barnardo\'s Cairngorm Challenge has been a gruelling 50km through some of Scotland’s most amazing scenery. It has included 2 sections, a 15 km hike to the top of Cairngorm Mountain (a Munro), followed by a 35 km bike ride through Glenmore and Abernethy Forests.
However, this year there will be an option to challenge yourself even further. The challenge will be divided into three disciplines, Gold, Silver and Bronze. This will give participants the option to choose their challenge dependant on their ability.
The bronze route will give the participants the choice to climb 15km to the top of Cairngorm Mountain from the Hayfield in Glenmore or take part in tricky 35km cycle through Glenmore and Abernethy Forests. The Silver route will cover both parts of the bronze route, the 15km climb to the top of Cairngorm Mountain and back to the Hayfield before the challenging the 35 Km cycle through Glenmore and Abernethy Forests, making the silver route 50km all together. The Gold route is the new annex to the challenge. It will incorporate the Silver challenge with an additional 5km onto the hike, 25km onto the cycle
Barnardo’s support more than 115,000 children and their families across the UK, facing enormous challenges everyday such as domestic violence, disability, homelessness, sexual abuse and sexual exploitation.
