Speleo Salomon Building on Success

The squad of 8 raced extensively in 2008, in Polish as well as international events and most recently returned from the Abu Dhabi adventure race, which they were competing in for the second time. The season’s highest prize money together with the location brought to the start line all the world top AR teams.
The Speleo team of Kasia Zaj¹c, Piotrek Dymus and Piotrek Kosmala, accompanied by Mike Johnston from New Zealand, finished in an impressive 15th place.
Last October, for the sixth time, the team took part in the AR World Championship. They finished in 16th place in Brazil, and in the rest of last year managed to win many events in Poland (i.e. Zamberlan Adventure Trophy, AR Cup, Nonstop Adventure). In an action packed year they raced in France, Sweden, Scotland, Russia, Czech Republic, Abu Dhabi and Croatia. In November they also found time to attend the Explorers Festival in Lodz as guests.
As is that were not enough the team also organized a series of races known as the Adventure Racing Cup. This included 4 events (the Wertepy Race, Eksploris, Salomon AR Cup in the Czech Republic and the Kompas Race) which gathered hundreds of competitors on the start line.
They were also initiators of the trail running series – Salomon Trail Running. The 4 races have met with a big interest, with hundreds of competitors of different levels of experience – from joggers to professional Olympians and are expected to grow in size again this year.
As you might expect from such a dynamic team they are off to a fast start in 2009 – and on their travels again. Their first big race of the year will be the Huariasinchi race in Ecuador in February, which recently joined the AR World Series.
