Race registrations for the Grand Raid des Pyrénées 2014

The organizers of the GRP have announced that they will be implementing a new system for the race registrations for this iconic race that will take place in the High Pyrénées mountains of France from August 21^st -24^th. 

In order to avoid some of the problems experienced at the opening of last years’ race registrations, after a lot of brainstorming, a new system of a lottery will be put in place. As such, pre-registrations will open on the race website on December 20^th, 2013 and close on January 3^rd, 2014 at 18:00.   1,000 places will be available for each of the two distances; 160km and 80km and there is no limit to the number of pre-registrations.

The names will be drawn in the presence of Michel Arnaud (journalist) and Rémy Jegard (journalist). On January 4^th, 2014 the names of those who have won a place in the registration lottery will be published on the race website and it will then be possible to pay for the race registration for those who have won a place. Payment will be possible from January 6^th, and for one week only, after which time the racers will forfeit their place.

Rumors have been swirling around the social medias about the possibility of an additional distance of 120km in 2014. The organizers have confirmed that they are indeed working on a new race route but as they are still awaiting permission from the national park they are unable to confirm at this date but hope to be able to before the opening of pre-registrations on December 20^th.
