Avantiplus Hellfire Cup - Back and Even Better for 2015

News Release / 29.04.2015See All Event Posts Follow Event

In its third year the AvantiPlus Hellfire Cup is again based at Kellevie and rides into different areas of the Wielangta State Forest and surrounding areas each day, riding on private land and forestry land. The race course has a myriad of tracks, forest trails, and awesome descents in beautiful landscapes.  The event has 7 stages offering a good mix of seriously good single track and great adventure riding. Our philosophy is that the course should be achievable, rewarding and challenging. We have designed it to be achievable and enjoyable for someone new to stage races with a reasonable level of fitness. The event is great leveller with plenty of opportunities for gravity riders and aggressive climbers to let the dog of the leash and we have designed it to have rewards and benefits for all riding styles.

The event is logistically uncomplicated with one base that competitors start and finish from each day to limit the pack/unpack headaches for riders, support crews and families. It also allows a greater social experience for riders and support crew with the one race village.
Being able to run the full event in its second year we have been overwhelmed with positive feedback. And our team is already planning and working towards the 2015 Avantiplus Hellfire Cup.

2015 changes

Each year we assess and improve what we do. Improvements for this year include:

  • Timing system links so riders can access their live results on their phones.
  • Live results screen in the race village.
  • New trail sections have already been constructed with more to come. We are massively ahead of our trail upgrade schedule thanks to the Mtn Trails team and our hard working event crew.
  • Upgrades to race village services.
  • Last stage pairs will now finish together. This is something a lot of people indicated they wanted and we can accommodate this into the last stage revamp.
  • Additional photographic services

The prize pool

The event has one of the largest prize pools for an event of its type in Australia.

The 2014 Prize pool includes:

The Hellfire vibe

We have a great range of interstate and overseas interest already signing up, so again we will be bringing lots of new people together for 4 days of bike riding and race village socialising. Our events are for people that have a passion for mountain biking as a lifestyle.

In the two previous years the event has included performers/bands Matt Bayes Blues, Rockabilly legends Sin and Tonics, Guthrie, Brian Ritchie (Violent Femmes) Jim Moginie (Midnight Oil) and others .This year we’ve got more entertainment lined up, and for us, the festival and race village environment is as important as the racing. Ride, relax, eat and repeat.
