Upper Murray Challenge is Open for Registration
Press Release / 20.04.2018
Once again you are invited to accept the challenge! This race has to be in the bucket list of every Multisport and adventure racing athlete in Australia.
The course has a classic composition and consists of 38 km of super hard MTB leg with everything in it (some minor bitumen, 4wd, single tracks, open paddock), 26 km of downriver paddle with some fun rapids and flat stretches and 25 km of running on various terrain. According to more than 20 years history of this event, the course takes from 5.5 to 11 hours to complete..
The event is open for Solo, relay and AR Duo teams. Additionally - if you are struggling to find a team and not quite up for tackling it SOLO this year – you can sign up for a single leg.
The course is linear and takes you on a journey from Victoria to New South Wales, starting in small town Khancoban and finishing in Corryong. You will be racing in the Kosciouszko foothills and enjoying spectacular Alpine setting all the way through.
Last year the race organisation was taken over by Melbourne based Adventure Junkie and the event received highly positive feedback from everyone taking part. Local communities’ involvement is a vital part of the event, and more than 50 volunteers take part in running it every year. The race is supported by local council and businesses, and has incredible authentic Upper Murray spirit in it.
The 2017 winners were Damon Gourke and Marlena Ahrens, and 2018 is promising to be even more competitive
