The Carpathian MTB Epic by MPG, one of the most spectacular multi-stage mountain bike racing events in Europe, near Dracula’s Castle, is opening the registration period for the 2019 race. The event has reached its third edition and has earned a high position in the world’s premium events list, as rated by top class riders and journalists. Romania, the wild Carpathians more precisely, is the home of this amazing sport, social & travel experience, with the most magnificent scenery and an all-inclusive package in the Race Village, covering not only meals, but also relaxation and entertainment programs.
The surprise of this year’s event are some new tracks in the beautiful South Carpathians mountains, in the center of Romania, only 166 km away from Bucharest. This authentic, breathtaking and limit breaking experience will take place between the 1st and the 4th of August. Registrations are OPEN on carpathianmtb.ro for all passionate, professional and amateur cyclists at special prices.
Athletes from over 20 countries join this Pro-Am event each year for an unforgettable journey that is all about pushing your limits to the edge, building character, forging new bonds of friendship with passionate riders and experiencing the most EPIC tracks, labelled by participants as iconic.
Among the ones that appreciated the Carpathian Epic experience were world-class athletes like Swiss rider Ariane Lüthi, five times champion at ABSA Cape Epic, Belgian Frans Claes, UCI Marathon Series winner, Estonian national champion Peeter Pruus and Olympic champion Gustav Larsson, from Sweden.
Among the attractions of the area, besides Dracula’s Castle, where more than 800,000 visitors go every year, there is the Black Church in Brasov, a beautiful gothic monument built almost 500 years ago, an outdoor adventure park offering forest-lined ropes & zipline courses for all levels and a dinosaur-themed park featuring large statues plus a 9D theater, playground, museum & other activities.
Since its first edition, the CARPATHIAN MTB EPIC by MPG event has been quickly labelled as one of the most spectacular competitions in Europe, due to the special aura of the lands, the full package of services, the exceptional promotion and the quality of the organization.
CARPATHIAN MTB EPIC by MPG delivers 4 days of pure mountain biking with over 173 kilometres of pedalling and 8.050 meters of climbing in the heart of one of the last genuinely wild regions in Europe – the Carpathian Mountains in Romania. Participation is complemented by the all-inclusive experience, which covers everything from accommodations in the Olympic level Race Village to nutrition & meal plans, complete race services on site and on course and top it all with a high-quality relaxation & entertainment programme.
Amateur participants who are not yet ready to cope with 4 days of racing can opt for the 1-Day Challenge event, being scheduled on the 4th of August, on a shorter route, 43 kilometers long and with 1,800 meters of climbing.
Entries are open exclusively online, on carpathianmtb.ro. Special discounted fees are available for cycling clubs affiliated with National Federations and for large groups of riders. The event is featured in the S2 category of the International Cycling Union (UCI) and Romanian Cycling Federation (FRC) calendar of events, giving performance athletes access to 80 UCI points, contributing to the qualification of atheletes for the 2020 Olympic Games.
