Entries Open For Queesnstown's Epic Peak to Peak Multisport Race
Press Release / 08.05.2019
Queenstown’s winter multisport event, the Peak to Peak, has today opened entries for the 2019 event and launched a brand-new website peaktopeak.nz. The 44km one day event will be held on Saturday 14thSeptember 2019 starting from high on the Remarkables ski field culminating at the Coronet Peak base building finish line.
Racing categories include a new tandem section that Race Director Adrian Bailey expects to be very popular.
“There are categories for solo, schools, business, teams and the new tandem option that allows two people to pair up and race together. We supply high quality Barracuda AR Duo racing kayaks as part of the tandem entry. Much like what’s happened with the Coast to Coast tandem class being a sell-out I think there will be a lot of people wanting to give this a crack.”
The Peak to Peak event has five race stages that link between Queenstown’s two world class ski fields with NZSKI the official host location of the event.
“Stage one starts at the Remarkables with a set ski or snowboard course down to the end of Homeward Run where competitors link into the stage two mountain bike to Frankton Beach,” says Bailey. “Stage three is a kayak leg from Frankton Beach to Queenstown Bay followed by a stage four run from Queenstown Bay to Arthurs Point. Stage five is the final cycling leg from Arthurs Point up to the Coronet Peak finish line.”
Queenstown based Active Tonic Ltd, a subsidiary of 100% Pure Racing – the sports event company behind the world’s largest adventure race GODZone and Australia and New Zealand’s Red Bull Defiance - are the new organisers of the event.
“The Peak to Peak is one of Queenstown’s most stunningly scenic events and the only winter multisport event of its kind in the country. The response today to early bird entries opening has been amazing and we expect a big field of competitors lining up on the start line come September.”
