International Trail Running Stars Team Up For adidas Infinite Trails World Champs In Gastein/salzburger Land (Aut)

Relays of 3 people cross altogether more than 126 kilometres and 7,300 vertical metres. The picture-postcard competition area for the 500 trailrunners at the adidas INFINITE TRAILS World Championships 2019:The breath-taking alpine landscape of the Austrian SalzburgerLand. There, the athletes proof their strengths on three different loops of trails with a different vertical profile and length. Each runner accomplishes one of these tracks of 25, 40, or 60 kilometres.
Among the international teams considered favorites are double Western States Endurance Run winner, Timothy Olson (USA), triple world champion Luis Alberto Hernando (ESP) and the sky-run specialist Dmitry Mityaev (RUS), the first Russian athlete to step onto the podium of the Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc race Sur les Traces des Ducs de Savoie (UTMB® -TDS®). And of course, the team around the Vice European Champion in Mountain Running, Bernard Dematteis (ITA), whose team mates are the trail running veterans Josh Eberly and Cordis Hall (both USA), would be able to win the prestigious race. In the women’s category, the team of Migu Run Skyrunner World series winner (2017), Sheila Avilés (ESP), Golden Gate Dirty 30 (50K) winner Abby Levene (USA) and Karwendellauf 2018 winner Kim Schreiber (GER) will definitely have a say in the decision.
The kick-off is a prologue of 15 kilometres und 891 Höhenmeter starting on Thursday, 27th of June, 6 p.m. in the Alpen Arena Bad Hofgastein. Here, the relay members run at the same time and the results are not being considered in the World Championships ranking. But team result of the prologue sets the starting order for the World Championship race on Saturday, 29th of June. The first runners start at 4 a.m. End of official timing is at night at 1 a.m.
Their loops lead over scenically spectacular and at the same time technically demanding tracks among others crossing Gamskarkogel (2.467m), Graukogel (2.446m) and Zittrauertisch (2.463m). The unique nature of Gasteinertal is – in all four directions – surrounded by the high mountain region of Hohen Tauern. While the area is during the competition weekend an El Dorado for trailrunners, huge gold deposits and inexhaustible hot thermal water have been attracting people for centuries. The old mule tracks and trade routes are also used for the event.
