Raid in France – A Top Notch World Series Adventure Race
Press Release / 02.05.2022
• 60 teams of 4 racers are enrolled (10 countries)
• A 400 km course with 16000 elevation gain
• June 22nd to July 1st from Bourg Saint Maurice to Aix-les-Bains
Raid in France 2022 will take place around the third most visited natural site in the world, the highest peak of the Alps and the most famous mountain in Europe; Mont Blanc - the pinnacle for any mountaineer! Raid in France 2022, the French edition of the Adventure Racing World Series, is going for it!
Through the adventure, between Bourg Saint Maurice and Aix les Bains Riviera des Alpes, Mont Blanc and the racers will mutually keep an eye on each other. The outstanding panorama of this mountain will guide the racers through 4 to 6 days of racing in total autonomy. The best teams will try to win their qualification spot for the World Championships in Paraguay.
From June 22nd to July 1st, the racers will be challenged with some very mountainous stages going through the Northern Alps, Savoie, Haute-Savoie and Tarentaise Valley. There will be long trekking or MTB stages above 2000 meters, glacier walks, going above 3000m, rope activities and several white-water legs between mountain rivers and lakes. It will be a non-stop race of 4 days for the winning team and up to 6 days for the last to finish.
“Orienteering, MTB, packraft, canoeing… everything will be amazing,” exclaimed Pascal Bahuaud, Race Director. “The course is as demanding as it can get when you are in the mountains, but it stays faithful to the Raid in France spirit. We will have some solutions for the less experienced teams to allow them to keep racing as long as possible. The raiders must be passionate about sports and nature, and admiring of the wilderness… and also tough to be successful.”
From June 22nd, Raid in France will be welcoming the teams in Bourg Saint Maurice, the start line of the race. The teams will progress through the activities racking up 400 km and 16,000 elevation of gain (that is to say, climbing Everest twice). The finish line will be on the beach of Aix les Bains from June 29th.
