Press Release / 10.03.2024
The Endurance Aventure production team and the City of Lac-Mégantic are proud to present the grand premiere of the broadcast of the 2023 edition of the Canada Man/Woman XTRI World Tour, at 5 p.m. on March 14, at Cinema Mégantic. The presentation will begin at 5:45 p.m.
The entire MRC du Granit community is invited to the viewing which highlights the immensity of the region. This long-awaited first performance will eventually be broadcast on RDS and internationally in more than 150 countries. Several eloquent testimonies and detailed portraits of select extraordinary athletes will be in the foreground.
You will meet Charlotte Hamel in her quest to raise funds to help young Gaby suffering from cerebral palsy, as well as Éric Lapierre who became the first triathlete with a visual impairment to complete this triathlon. Several athletes from the region completed the new SOLO POINT FIVE CANADA race, like Olivier Lavallée and Catherine Labrecque. Claude Grégoire, a retired teacher and loyal event volunteer, completed the SOLO POINT FIVE CANADA before joining his family at its usual volunteer position supporting Xtreme athletes!
The idea of this show is to highlight the host region and make the Canada Man/Woman XTRI World Tour more accessible by demonstrating that it is possible to succeed regardless of the circumstances. Each story in this film is unique and the strength of these triathletes is a source of inspiration for all those who one day wish to participate in a sporting event of this kind. We are witnessing an incomparable human experience and resilience is the key.
“It’s definitely a film to watch. You will discover an exceptional event which is held in an absolutely magnificent region. Seeing all these athletes push their limits like this to reach the summit of Mont-Mégantic gives you chills and brings you a lot of emotions! » -Daniel Poirier, Co-founder and Partner, Productions EA inc.
Welcoming Municipalities
Year after year, 14 municipalities warmly welcome more than 400 athletes and their families from all over the world. Volunteers from Lac-Mégantic, Audet, Chartierville, Frontenac, Lac-Drolet, La Patrie, Marston, Nantes, Notre-Dame-des-Bois, Piopolis, St-Sébastien, Ste-Cécile de Whitton, Val-Racine and Woburn enthusiastically support the athletes during the event. The landscapes of these municipalities are also highlighted in the film.
“This tough competition allows us to see self-transcendence. Our region is the perfect playground to host this extraordinary event. Canada Man/Woman is a story filled with magnificent people: the athletes, the volunteers and the families who are present throughout the competition," adds the mayor of Lac-Mégantic, Julie Morin.
The Canada Man/Woman, which is part of the prestigious XTRI World Tour World Series, will return on October 6 in Lac-Mégantic. Expect it to be even more extreme and spectacular!
