Live Stream of the 43rd Ötztaler Cycle Marathon
Press Release / 26.08.2024
The 43rd Ötztaler Cycle Marathon will once again feature top-tier athletes.
Defending champion Manuel Senni from Italy aims to retain his title, while last year’s runner-up Alban Lakata (AUT) and last year’s third placed Johnny Hoogerland (NED), are seeking redemption. Also in the race are 2022 champion Jack Burke from Canada and 2017 winner Stefano Cecchini from Italy. Former and multiple world champion (UCI MTB Eliminator ) Daniel Federspiel (AUT) adds additional excitement. Other prominent figures from the world of mountain sports, including former Austrian biathlete Dominik Landertinger, ex-ski racer Manfred Mölgg (ITA), and Hahnenkamm champion Thomas Dreßen (GER), round out the already strong field of participants.
In the women's starting field, defending champion Janine Meyer (GER) returns after not only claiming victory last year but also setting a new women’s course record. Catherine Rossmann (GER), the 2022 winner and third-place finisher last year, will also be competing for a spot on the podium, along with Christina Rausch, who triumphed in 2019 and 2020.
On Sunday, September 1st, around 4,000 cyclists will line up to tackle the 227-kilometer course. The challenging route winds over four Alpine passes – Kühtaisattel, Brenner, Jaufenpass, and Timmelsjoch – covering 5,500 meters of elevation from Sölden to South Tyrol and back.
This year there will be a free livestream of the most challenging cycling marathon in the Alps: the 43rd Ötztaler Cycling Marathon.
