Winter adventure racing returns to the UK as Questars unveil their 2024 Winter Adventure Race Series, a premier event blending trail running, mountain biking and orienteering in some of England’s most breathtaking landscapes. This year’s winter series promises a diverse array of challenging and exhilarating races tailored to all skill levels.
A Unique Racing Experience
Questars Adventure Races are renowned for their inclusive approach to adventure racing. Since 2001, Questars has been a cornerstone of the UK adventure racing scene, celebrated for offering an exceptional blend of competition and camaraderie. Whether you’re new to the sport or a seasoned competitor, Questars events provide a welcoming atmosphere and the perfect setting for personal challenge and enjoyment.
Race Formats and Options
Participants can choose from several race formats, each designed with flexibility in mind, allowing participants of all abilities and experience levels to take part. Race solo or as part of a team of up to four people, with a variety of event options to choose from:
Run & Bike FULL (5-Hour Adventure Race): Experience the ultimate winter adventure with five hours of trail running and mountain biking.
Run & Bike TASTER (3-Hour Adventure Race): Ideal for newcomers, this format offers a brilliant introduction to adventure racing with three hours of combined trail running and mountain biking.
Run-Only (2-Hour Trail Run Orienteering Event): Perfect for dedicated runners, this event focuses on trailrunning over two hours.
Bike-Only (2-Hour Mountain Bike Orienteering Event): Designed for bike enthusiasts, this two-hour challenge emphasizes mountain biking over two hours.
Strategic and Flexible Racing
One of the key highlights of the Questars Winter Adventure Race Series is its flexible format.
Participants use a map and compass to navigate through checkpoints, each carrying different point values. The race winners are determined not by speed or distance, but by the strategic collection of points, testing both physical endurance, navigational skills and strategy.
The absence of minimum distance requirements allows participants to tailor their race strategy according to their strengths and objectives, making the series accessible and engaging for everyone.
2024 Winter Series Locations
The 2024 Winter Adventure Race Series will take place in four stunning locations:
Berkshire Downs: Saturday, 9th November
Cotswolds: Saturday, 7th December
New Forest: Saturday, 11th January
Forest of Dean: Saturday, 15th February
Each location offers unique trails, hidden gems, and exciting challenges, ensuring unforgettable adventures throughout the winter.
