India kicks off Namma Adventure Race 3.0 the last ARWS Asia Race for 2024
Press Release / 12.12.2024
Following the Adventure Racing World Championship in Ecuador it’s time to follow the next Asia Series race in India.
NthAdventure is back with the “Namma Adventure Race 3.0” Karnataka’s only Adventure Race. Adventure Racing is a fast-growing sport in India and shaping up as a great platform for young to elite teams. This race is a qualifier race for National Adventure Racing Championship – INDIA, which will be hosted in the beautiful mountain state of Arunachal Pradesh in April 2025.
Namma Adventure Race 3.0 is a 48 hour – 200KM course, which will take teams through grasslands and mountains, experiencing scenic views of Sharavathy valley and connecting with locals and traditional activities. Disciplines include trail running, MTB, hiking, open water swimming, ferry riding, coracle, water tubing, and navigation.
Race Director Ajita Madan says, “We are super excited to host our 3rd edition of Namma Adventure Race in the district of Shivamogga, Karnataka. This race is longer compared to previous edition of Namma AR as this gives our athletes an opportunity to understand the magnitude of this sport. From endurance training to planning logistics, everything will be a step up this time. We always want our athletes to feel challenged and to have to execute different race strategies.
“The host location of this race is “Jog Falls”, a major attraction in Karnataka and a natural marvel. It is one of the highest waterfalls in India and a place that has an amazing history. We are so grateful to have the support of various governing bodies, stakeholders and departments so we can make this event happen.”
Talking about the difficulty level, Sayeesha Kirani, Race Director, said, “Every course is unique. This course is designed for teams who want to push their game and move towards Expedition style racing. The race will have the element of surprise and teams must be prepared to race for longer.
“The course will take our teams traversing through villages, rivers, mountains and valleys. So yes, it is going to be interesting to see how teams plan to do everything in the least amount of time. There will be a darkzone and a cut-off, and teams need to strategize accordingly. It takes a massive effort to organize a sport like this where multiple disciplines and multiple departments are involved. We worked with the authorities to curate this course. We thank all the departments for their support and the Deputy Commissioner and Department of Tourism Shivamogga District for welcoming adventure racing.”
The gate opens on 12th December for race admin, the opening ceremony and the race briefing. The race will be flagged off on Friday 13th September in the morning when teams will be transported to an undisclosed start location at 5am. There will be lots of action and updates on social media pages.
