Press Release / 20.08.2018
The second edition of the Carpathian MTB Epic is history and it was truly WILD RUGGED and EPIC. After three demanding stages and a short Prologue, including 180km of riding and 8.500m of climbing the overall winners of this UCI sanctioned race were crowned. The final decisive Stage 3 with 60km of riding and 2.500m of climbing, perhaps the easiest, but also the fastest one of the three, produced a super shift lead in the overall female standings and a superb fight in the men's.
It was the Overall leader in the yellow jersey, the Estonian XCM Champion, Peeter Pruus (EST), who secured the second place at the last third stage and thereby he won the Carpathian MTB Epic 2018! The fastest men today was Filip Adel from Czech Republic. Third came in his fellow countrymen Marek Rauchfuss (CZE), who is second overall. Third overall is todays fourth placed Belgian Frans Claes.
In the women category the multiple Cape Epic Champion from Switzerland, Ariane Lüthi won todays last stage and put a solid gap between her and the current overall leader, Jovana Crnogorac. With this result Ariane claimed the red women leader jersey back and won the UCI women category at the Carpathian MTB Epic 2018. Second overall finished today’s second placed Jovana Crnogorac, who challenged the big favourite Ariane Lüthi a lot.
