BIKE Festival Saalfelden Leogang
Grand Marathon Series Finale at BIKE Festival Saalfelden Leogang
Press Release / 30.08.2018
This upcoming weekend, the BIKE Festival Saalfelden Leogang will celebrate its inaugural edition. It's the first time ever, that a branch of the BIKE Festival family will take place in Austria. Just like in Riva del Garda and Willingen, a huge outdoor fair will be the hub for mountain biking for the whole course of the weekend while several events will attract hundreds of mountain bikers to the Salzburg country side.
Especially as the final race of the three stop Rocky Mountain BIKE Series is set to go down on Sunday, 2 September, at 7:30 when riders will not only compete for the day win but also for a good result in the overall ranking.
According to the entry list, Konny Looser (SUI) and Jana Zieschank (GER) have the best chances to walk away with the brand new title.
The 2017 Swiss Marathon Champion has earned the top spot of the class-independent overall cup ranking by finishing seventh in the classic staged at Lake Garda as well as by jumping on the podium as third in Willingen. However, the pro racer shouldn't take things for granted as two riders are breathing down his neck in the standings.
One of them is Sascha Weber (GER; 1,881) who has made his mark in cyclocross as a successful junior. The other one is Tobias Schmidtmann (GER; 1,681) who finished second at the Hesse Championships in the Senior I classification about two months ago.
On the women's side of things it's Katrin Schwing (GER) leading the ranking comfortably with 1,903 points.
But as the strong athlete hasn't registere for the final race of the series, it seems that Jana Zieschank (1,442) has a good chance to take that number one spot of the standings if the master woman can bring home another good result.
