Teams participating in The Wenger Czech Adventure Race 2018 enjoyed 400 km of biking, running and paddling in beautiful countryside full of rock towers in the northern part of the Czech Republic recently. Teams from Spain and Finland were competing with 7 teams from the Czech republic and the Finnish guys were defending their title from last year.

The race started on Wednesday 29th August at 8:00am and led the racers straight into local rock town where they could enjoy a beutiful scenery. The Czech team Salomon-Suunto CZ AR Team went into the early lead and held that position until the end, all except for one CP, which they admitted at the price giving ceremony.  All other teams did well, with an ocassional fight for possition here and there. Finnish team Multisport.fi had to give up this year, unfortunatelly, due to a stomach bug annoying one of their team members. All the other three members gave him great support and took part in the final stage of the race at the closing party – the beer relay – as well.

The traditional discipline of the Wenger Czech Adventure Race is “Bolscross“ – a hilly track in the forest with natural obstacles and water jumps. This discipline stays in racers´ minds and it is one of the reasons they come back. This year´s Bolscross trail took approx. 30 minutes to finish and racers had to walk across a tree fallen over a gorge,  swim in a dam and climb over a quite high concrete dam gate and got over other traps prepared by Mr. Bols.

All the teams enjoyed it a lot, especially the swimming, as it was a nice refreshment and the only chance to get rid of some of the sweat all over them. Team no. 12, HAVR BLACK, which was a novice at AR, talked about it as a highlight of the race and asked us to take a lot of pictures of them crossing the obstacles. This team should be mentioned for they long rests as well - they took a long sleep each night (6 hours on avarage) and they highly recommned this race to amateurs as well.

Quite unique was in-line skating discipline with canoes when the racers had to use their trailers to move canoes on the roads and paths. One team broke their trailer and finished this stage with a borrowed barrow from a helpful local man. This discipline divided the paddaling into two parts: meandres and a resevoir. Only team EKP EPO Rockpoint got into trouble and capsized just 100m before the end of the stage. The same team got lost on the reservoir at night.

The winner of the Wenger Czech Adventure Race 2018 were team Salomon-Suunto CZ AR Team (they finished the race in 54h 20min). The second team were EPO/HSK Benecko (56h 15min) and third EKP EPO Rockpoint Klacky.cz (57h 53min), all from the Czech Republic.
