Add to that the challenge of moving 160 of the 55litre suport crates for the teams and making sure the right one gets to the correct TA area is a logistical feat.
Then of course you need an expert campfire builder at each transition - nothing better than being out on course racing on a cold night and seeing the flames of a big campfire as you come towards the transition. The teams will appreciate that.
They should also appreciate all the messages of support they are getting. The message boards have been inundated and the organisers are ensuring that each team gets a printout of them at the next transition. Race organiser Craig Bycroft was laughing and telling me he hopes he has enough paper to cope with demand. He had expected maybe a few messages would come through, but last transition he had a pile of well wishing printouts about a cm thick to hand out to teams!
HQ staff have been very quick to update the leaderboard - it really has proven to be \'live updates\' so far. Louise explained to me that most of them have been hanging out at home waiting for news of racers in the past and know what its like, so it has been their mission to be quick with the updates!
Weather had been very kind so far, however a front is reportedly coming through, so some uncomfortable times may lie ahead for both teams and organisers/volunteers.
