Millie arrived at the finish of the longest most challenging race they\'ve completed to date at 9.15pm Monday evening after 6 full on days of racing.
Matt as per usual was matter of fact telling me the conditions were tough, but he enjoyed it and was happy with how the team went. The highlight for him being the final paddle, and the lowlight getting heat stroke on the first day. \"it was a great race - I enjoyed it\" he said simply.
Jay was amazed by the extremes in conditions \"from ice on the map holder when paddling, to stinking hot desert\" but enjoyed the extra long legs. \"Spending 20 hours on many of the legs, you really felt like you were going somewhere, not just round in circles - really travelling\" He too was happy with how the team went. \"Other than a few nav issues, it was great\"
Zoe couldn\'t think of anything other than eating pizza, and that she hadn\'t expected the race to be so long. Best part? \"um, dunno - finishing? . . .no there were lots of highs and lows as expected\" Worst part? \"first paddle - really cold headwind, going nowhere, and there seemed to be no end in sight. I almost broke down on that!\" Of course she didn\'t and stayed strong to the end - just hungry!
Toby was amazed at how challenging the course was. Kept saying how hard it was, and how there was \"always a little twist on just about every leg - something that threw you off the scent . . you were convinced that you\'d just ballsed it up completely and would\'ve lost heaps of time, but later found out everyone copped the same twist!\"
