ITERA-lite Adventure Race Comes to Eryri on the 26th to 29th July

One of the world’s leading adventure races, ITERA-lite by Durty Events, starts from Friday 26th and runs to Monday 29th July, with competitors descending upon Dolgellau from across the world to take part. They are arriving from as far as Canada, Hong Kong, USA, Reunion, New Zealand, South Africa, and Australia – as well as all over Europe.
Competitors will undertake around 300km of non-stop multi-sport action with stages comprising trekking, mountain-biking, kayaking, navigation, as well as special stages – taking competitors to some incredible locations across Eryri.
In ITERA-lite (so called because it’s the little brother of the epic ITERA 5-day race) teams are comprised of either pairs or fours. The exciting part about adventure racing is that none of the teams know where the 300km course is going to take them. All they know is where to meet and what the key disciplines will involve so that they bring the correct clothing and kit.
Competitors won’t even know the location of the start and finish line until the big reveal in the race briefing before the start. And once they’re underway, if competitors do choose to sleep, it will be brief and somewhere out on the course!
Local interest will be centred on ‘Team Burn’ a competing pairs team from Vale of Glamorgan and Team Endurancelife, the current reigning ITERA-lite Quad team champions, whose team member Natalie Taylor is from Brecon. This year, the current World Champions, the Swedish Armed Forces Adventure Team, are taking part, making this year a truly stellar year.
Durty Events is one of the leading off-road multi-sports event organisers in the UK and ITERA-lite has been meticulously designed to offer a manageable stepping stone for aspiring adventure racers, a valuable training opportunity for seasoned teams, and a stand-alone thrilling adventure in its own right. Notably, ITERA-lite is proudly a member race of the esteemed Adventure Racing World Series (ARWS) Europe.
Anticipating a winning time of approximately 48 hours and all teams completing the challenge within around 60 hours, ITERA-lite will cater to both competitive and novice teams. For the teams seeking a more accessible route, shortcuts will be available, ensuring that the thrill and excitement of expedition adventure racing is open to all.
