The departure of the international Raid Eco – Bois Champigny Wood will take place at Fitch Bay on the Memphremagog lake, on a cruising boat "the Adventure", Friday morning at 8H30. The athletes must be present for the departure appointment at 6H30 and it is only at this time that they will receive the road map of the race. They will then only have one hour to study their map and to decide which strategies to adopt.  The race starts with a  2,5 km swim. Afterwards, they will have to cross a swamp with their bicycle and cross the Memphremagog lake between Georgeville and Knolwton Landing in a boat. They will complete the first stage of this race by several uphill climbing of mountains, including Pevee mount in Potton Township.  We must have in mind that this competition of endurance and extreme adventure includes various sections of mountain bike, climbing, trekking, kayaking, swimming and surprise sections like cliff jumps. 20 teams, coming from several countries (Costa Rica, Ecuador, Italy, Finland, France, the United States, Canada) will race against each others in the Eastern Townships, an area well known for its magnificent landscapes and outdoor activities in North America. Â
Each 4 racers team, will be followed by two assistants who will prepare the camping, food and supplies for the transition zones. This event represents an enormous challenge for all the teams as it will continue trough day and night over a total distance of 225 km. Moreover, most of the journey will not take place on marked paths and routes and all the teams will have to determine their own itineraries and strategies. The teams will have to jump from 10 meters high cliffs, swim in rivers overnight, find their way in the deep forest using their compass, perform rappelling on 35 meters rock face and finally mountain bike in the bushes. The mental toughness, the endurance, the physical skills and the teams solidarity will be critical to lead them to the finish. Consequently, the teams must manage their race thoroughly and maximize their recovery during the rest periods, because they will put endure from 30 to 50 hours of constant efforts (excluding the resting periods) in order to complete the race, after having climbed the equivalent of eight times the Orford mount. The arrival will take place in Magog at the beach "des Cantons" Sunday August 14, from 16H00.
