The Brazilian Challenge

There are 3 strong Brazilian teams racing this years World Championship. That’s a reflection of the strength of the sport in S. America and in Brazil, where one of the biggest World Series Qualifiers, EcoMotion Pro, takes place.

Here Wladimir Togumi, the Editor of the Brazilian SleepMonsters site, gives a guide to the experience and strength of the Brazilian challengers.

Oskalunga Brasil Telecom

Currently the best Brazilian adventure race taem, and one of the youngest in the country. Formed by Frederico Gall, Monclair Cammarota, Bárbara Bonfim and Guilherme Pahl, they took an impressive 3rd place in Ecomotion Pro 2005 and were the best Brazilian team in the race. This year they’ve won almost every race that they’ve participated in.

They started racing in 2001, doing short races in their home town area. Their best result in this first year was first place in the Adventure category at the EMA Amazônia. Since then they’ve participated in the most important Brazilian races with good results.

After AR World Championship they plan spend 5 months training in New Zealand to gain more experience, so they may return Brazil fitter, faster and with Kiwi accents!
